Hold on simmers, the latest edition will be coming out soon enough
It’s been six years already since the last Sims game released, but finally we will be seeing the next generation of the famous Role Playing Game come out. It will be developed by Maxis and published by Electronic Arts, and is going to be the direct sequel of 2014’s The Sims 4.
It’s still in the conceptual phase, but according to reports, it’s adopting cloud-based techniques and will be including a whole new multiplayer version.
When is it releasing?
No official date hasn’t been given, but since it’s in development right now, it can release in late 2020 or early 2021. My bet is on 2021.
In January, EA CEO Andrew Wilson stated that the new game is in the pre-production stage. Wilson also spoke about the game’s multiplayer mode, and that the developers are going to implement certain features from the no longer existing The Sims Online in the new game. He said that the game will always stay true it’s basic elements and will be adding things that are relevant in the current world. He said that they’re very excited as they really don’t have any competition and can grow at their own pace like they’ve done all these years.
As for the platforms, it will be released for PC first before coming to consoles like the PlayStation and Xbox. There is no word of it coming to Nintendo yet.
Regarding expansion packs, no news have been released. But it’s very likely going to come just like in the previous games to enhance the gameplay experience. Some of those that are hinted to arrive are The Sims Careers, The Sims Pets, and The Sims Seasons.
