The exclusive biopic is all set to release on November 1st, 2019. The movie is based on a true story of a slave Harriet Tubman, who helped almost 300 slaves to get freedom using the storied network of Underground Railroad. The story is written by the legends Gregory Allen Howard and Kasi Lemons.
What is the biopic all about?
This is the first motion film that will portray Tubman’s story. Though, in 1978, Cicely Tyson portrayed her in a movie named “A Woman Called Moses”.
Harriet will chronicle Tubman’s story, which began with her in 1849, where she made history by saving almost 300 slavers from slavery in Dorchester Country, Maryland. She traveled on the underground railroad to freedom in Philadelphia.
During her journey, she meets abolitionists like Fedrick Douglass and Odom Jr.’s, and all these people help to boost her political path. And of course, once she gets free, she helps others to get free from slavery. This life-saving guide cemented her name in the books of history.
Who will be in the cast of this exclusive biopic?
Cynthia Erivo will play the leading role of Tubman. When the premiere date was announced, the U.K. actress celebrated the news with an emotional Instagram post.
She wrote “I am so happy and excited to have been a part of this biopic story, and I hope I will make you proud on November 1st”. She further wrote that she had put all her blood, sweat, heart, soul, and tears into it because it deserved much more.
There are other supporting casts are involved, which includes Janelle Monae, Leslie Odom Jr, Joe Alwyn, and Jennifer Nettles.
