Director Francis Lawrence also explains some behind-the-scenes news
The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, the prequel of the critically-acclaimed Hunger Games series, has released its first look. Judging from what we have seen, and what the director and producer are explaining, the movie will be a whole different version of the Jennifer Lawrence-led action franchise. Let’s read in detail below.
The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes First Look and Story
The first look for The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes was shared by Vanity Fair, and director Francis Lawrence and producer Nina Jacobson give us a brief look at how they plan to breathe life into the novel by Suzanne Collins. The image shared is of a young President Coriolanus Snow (Tom Blyth) and his lover Lucy Gray (Rachel Zegler), lying down, presumably under a tree. As fans know, President Snow is the tyrannical ruler of Panem, and a major obstacle in the way of Katniss and her friends. He also introduced the dreaded Hunger Games, which required contestants to kill each other for survival.
But The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes will show a different side of Panem, and it is exciting, as Jacobson says. The kingdom will be different in terms of style, design, character, and point of view. Lawrence said that they also got to remake District 12, all of the Capitol, as well as a new arena.
Further Details
The movie will also explain the history of the games, the music in the nation, and more backstory on Katniss. As for the heroine Lucy Gray, Lawrence said that he is the anti-Katniss. Gray is a performer, a charmer, a kind of person that Snow has never come across. As for Snow, Jacobson describes him as a young man finding his way in the world. Well, we all know what kind of man he will end up being, but it is exciting to know his journey.
The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is set for a 2023 release.
