Season three ended with Moordale High shutting down, and the students are forced to relocate to another school. Reynolds spoke about it to Radio Times, saying her character was written out in a logical way, as were many others. Since the students are starting anew in a new school, the producers had to make room for new cast members, who will be starring as students from the other school. As the ensemble cast was getting bigger, some old cast members had to exit.

Reynolds, however, said that she had no hard feelings, despite being sad about leaving. She said she understood how it works, and that it’s the logical thing to do.

Other Departures

Reynolds’ exit from Sex Education follows another cast member’s departure – Patricia Allison, who plays Ola. She was Lily’s partner in the show, and the news was announced at the start of this month. While sad, it was best that they wrote off the characters as Lily’s arc had been properly explored, and it would have caused redundancy to keep her around.

With that said, watch out for new casting announcements for Sex Education season four, which is believed to be the show’s final season.
