Robe Lowe speaks up about how his life changed after “The 1988 Sex Tape” Scandal! Was it regretful or Blessing in disguise?

Recently Robe Lowe was at the SiriusXM Hollywood Studios to promote his show, Stories I Only Tell My Friends: LIVE! On the Jess Cagle show. Here he frankly spoke about one of his biggest regrets of life.

The 55-year-old actor opened up about his sex tape leak and the consequences that followed, during his conversation with SiriusXM’s Jess Cagle and Julia Cunningham. He considers that unpleasant incident as his road to recovery and soberness in life.

The actor of classic movies like The Outsiders (1983) and About Last Night (1986), ended up in a sex tape scandal in 1988, which waned his public image as well as declined his film career. However, his career resurged from television in 1999, when he started playing Sam Seaborn in the political drama The West Wing.

Lowe shared his biggest regret about the tape and joked that he was too stupid to not make any money out of it as everybody does.

But keeping these jokes apart, he opened up about how that infamous sex tape turned his life around. He said, “It’s one of the reasons I got sober. I woke up one day and was like, what am I doing with my life? I honestly think its the best thing that happened to me. I got sober. Sober it me married. I’ve been married for 29 years. I have two great sons.”

Due to his addiction to drugs and alcohol, Lowe entered rehab in 1990, aged 25. Since then, he has been sober for almost 30 years and is an inspiration to those struggling with addiction. In 1991 Lowe married Sheryl Berkoff, and the couple has two sons: Edward Matthew Lowe and John Owen Lowe.
