Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex and his wife, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex announced that they will be stepping down from their designations as “senior members” of Britain’s royal family. A similar type of statement was foreseen by the fans of the royal family.
The couple shared the notification on the official Instagram handle of the Sussex royal family. They have decided to share their time between the U.K. and North America in 2020.
The post stated that after a long time of considering and pondering, they have chosen to make a change this year. It will start to carve out a new refined role within the institution. The royal couple has planned to step back as the senior members of the Royal Family. And they will work to become financially independent while continuing their full support to Her Majesty The Queen.
After they shared their opinion, Buckingham Palace posted its response on Twitter. The tweet speaks about undergoing discussions with Prince Harry. It says the discussion is at an early stage. They understand that the couple wants to take a different direction. Because the issue looks complicated, it will take time to resolve.
Recently, Prince Harry, Meghan and their young son, Archie were missing from the royal family’s Christmas celebration. They were at Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland’s home in Canada during the 2019 holiday season. Archie was born last year in May.
The statement also added that the geographic balance will allow them to raise their son with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born. Simultaneously also, this will provide them the space to focus on the future. It includes launching a new charitable entity.
