The New Netflix show, Ghost in The Shell: SAC_2045 is the newest series in the Stand-Alone Complex world, the first in the series to be entirely CG animated.
People can certainly be more excited about the return of the original anime cast and the that it will also be directed by Kenji Kamiyama and Shinji Aramaki.
The storyline of the show:
SAC-2045 refers to Stand Alone Complex, which was a very well written series written and directed by Kamiyama. The previous show was set in 2032, and the new series set in 2045, so it could be a sequel to the show. Ghost In The Shell: SAC_2045 takes the series to a genre of a post-apocalyptic spy thriller, a direction the show has never gone before.
The show follows the story of Major Motoko Kusanagi and her counter-terrorism cohorts, who have been disbanded in the wake of a global economic meltdown.
Kusanagi and team are pushed back into combat and a mysterious new threat in the form of superhuman foes known as “post-humans.”
What will the show be like?
The 3DCG animation is the first for a Ghost in the Shell show and has proved to be divisive, with more people disappointed than pleased with the original teaser trailer. May be its because it is a lot different from the original hand-drawn anime style.
The original film and series were fiscally and culturally successful, but the live-action movie featuring Scarlett Johansson proved to be a dud. Critics felt it lacked the original storytelling from the anime. If SAC _2045 can deliver what the movie missed, maybe people will forget the 3DCG animation style.
The show is out on Netflix already and we have heard that a second season is already in works.
