After facing many delays since 2018, the movie is set to release this year
New Mutants is the first-ever spin-off of Marvel’s X-Men, and it’s finally ready to hit theaters after facing many roadblocks.
The current release date of the movie, which is directed by Josh Boone, is set on August 28th, that is if we are rid of the coronavirus crisis by then. If all goes well, the movie can turn out to be a summer blockbuster. The movie was set to release much earlier, but then owing to many reshoots, then the Disney and Fox merger happened, and it ended up getting pushed back. The movie’s original release date was going to be August 2019.
A trailer for the movie was released in October 2017, but afterward, no further promotions were done, and people thought the movie had been shelved. The hype gradually died down, but it looks like it can be restored again.
The lead characters will be played by Anya Taylor-Joy, known for movies such as Split, Glass, and Emma. Other characters will be Maisie Williams known for her role as Arya Stark in Game of Thrones and Charlie Heaton, known for his role as Jonathan Byers in Stranger Things. Taylor-Joy will be essaying the role of Magik, Williams will be playing Werewolf Wolfsbane, and Heaton will star as Sam “Cannonball” Guthrie.
Other cast members include Blue Hunt as Danielle Moonstar, Henry Zaga as Sunspot, and Alice Braga will be essaying the role of Dr. Cecilia Reyes. Heaton previously spoke about the movie’s release in Manchester, and a new trailer had been released in January.
The movie will be bringing an element of horror in the superhero genre. The group of young heroes will be fighting to get out of asylum of horrors for young mutants, and how it all goes down will form the rest of the story.
Let’s hope all goes well, and the movie finally gets released.
