Jennifer Lawrence Starrer Apple TV+ Film Unhealthy Blood Divulges Vital Production Details!

The story will be based on bestselling book Bad Blood: Secrets and Lies in a Silicon Valley Startup

Jennifer Lawrence is reportedly starring as former Theranos boss Elizabeth Holmes in an upcoming movie called Unhealthy Blood. The movie will reunite Jennifer Lawrence with her Don’t Look Up director Adam McKay and will be based on the best-selling book Bad Blood: Secrets and Lies in a Silicon Valley Startup by former Wall Street Journal reporter John Carreyrou.

Let’s check the story in detail.

Holmes is currently awaiting trial after being charged with 11 counts of wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud. If convicted, she could be facing up to 20 years in prison.

It began when the blood testing facility designed by Theranos failed to impress investors. Holmes promised that this device would be able to detect ailments from a single drop of blood, thus revolutionizing healthcare. Until that time, Theranos was valued at a whopping $9 billion, with Holmes being deemed the youngest self-made billionaire and made it to Fortune’s 40 under 40 list.

It was around this time when Carreyrou started writing about the then 32-year-old CEO. Soon, she was accused for her crimes, and the blood-testing start-up was dissolved in 2018. In 2016, she was included in the list of world’s most disappointing leaders.

Apple making the movie is irony at its finest, since Holmes had modelled herself after Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, which included the black turtleneck.

The Jennifer Lawrence & Adam McKay’s movie is not the only project based on Holmes. Hulu had announced earlier this year that they will be making a docuseries on the former CEO with Amanda Seyfried in the lead.

Production for Unhealthy Blood will begin once Jennifer Lawrence has delivered her baby, and is ready to get back to work.
