James Gunn and Peter Safran are in process of Mapping Out “8-10 Year Plan” For DC

The New CEOs of DC Confirmed they are working on a big overarching story

In one of our recent news articles we disclosed that James Gunn had already pitched a secret movie for the DC world, while plot details are being kept under wraps, sources say that Gunn’s pitch is “in the early stages of development” and that it will focus on “the darker side of the DC Universe.”

In late October, CEO David Zaslav hired James Gunn and Peter Safran to lead DC Films as co-chairman and co-CEO. It is not surprising to see that DC Studios Co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran are pushing hard for the retooling of the DCU on both the film and television sides, considering how disconnected the DCU has become over the past few years. They are all set on giving the DC cinematic universe a solid structure to drive the efforts of DC Studios over the next decade.

In the last few years, Safran has built The Conjuring Universe with his talent and also produced films such as Aquaman, Shazam, The Suicide Squad, and many more under his banner by shaking hands with Warner Bros.

James Gunn’s vision

We know that CEO David Zaslav wants to ensure that the DC brand is as popular and successful as the MCU, while Peter Safran & James Gunn regarding their plans for telling one grand narrative over the course of their project slate, there were not any new projects mentioned.

With Fury from the Gods, The Flash, Blue Beetle, and Aquaman from 2018 planned to be released in 2023, it is possible Gunn and producer Peter Safran’s plans do not start influencing the general direction of the DC Universe until 2024 and onward.

Unfortunately, it is probably going to be some time before we see Peter Safran and their plans in action since they are just at the beginning stages of their tenure with Warner Bros.
