The special will feature Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, and many others
It’s time to go back to Hogwarts. The first teaser for Harry Potter: Return to Hogwarts is out, and Potterheads can’t wait. Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, and other characters who had appeared in the eight films will be reuniting to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.
The special episode, Harry Potter: Return to Hogwarts, will be airing on HBO Max.
The first look
HBO Max dropped the first look teaser on December 6th, beginning with a shot of the Hogwarts clock tower, followed by somebody reading a copy of the Daily Prophet newspaper. In it was the headline, ‘Hogwarts Welcomes Back Alumni.’ Next we see Robbie Coltrane (Hagrid) and Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom) receiving their invitations. Even Mark Williams, who played Ron’s dad Arthur Weasley was featured getting into a train. A wide shot of the train station was shown, and ended with the backside of Emma Watson, who was walking down platform 9 ¾, where the Hogwarts express was waiting.
Other stars who will be returning includes: Ralph Fiennes (Voldemort), Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix), Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy), Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy), Gary Oldman (Sirius Black), Imelda Staunton (Dolores Umbridge), Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley), Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood) among many others.
Fans were of course, ecstatic to hear that the characters they had grown up watching will be reuniting to talk about their filming days. Some were wondering out loud if they will announce a new movie on the series. Many were sad that they will not get to see cast members like Helen McCrory, Alan Rickman, and Richard Harris. The actors had played Narcissa Malfoy, Professor Dumbledore, and Severus Snape respectively.
Harry Potter: Return to Hogwarts will premiere on HBO Max on January 1.
