Christophe Gans, who directed the first part, will be in charge this time as well
It is a big week for the classic video game Silent Hill as it has not just received a remaster, but also a movie adaptation. The successful franchise by Japanese developer Konami began in 1999, which revolved around writer Harry Mason looking for his adopted daughter in the titular spooky town. The game is considered as one of the best survival horror games ever made and had sequels focusing on different characters coming to the hellish town.

Following the success of the games, writer/director Christophe Gans made the first Silent Hill movie in 2006. While the reviews were not pleasing, the movie was praised for its stunning visuals. It was followed by the 2012 sequel called Silent Hill: Revelation, with M.J. Bassett as the director. It was based on the third game of the series, and while it received some success at the box office, the reviews were much worse. After staying down for a decade, Konami has announced the franchise’s return in a movie titled Return to Silent Hill.
A teaser trailer has been released, which showed Gans and producer Victor Hadida talking about their vision for the new movie and how they convinced Konami to give the green light.
What’s New
In the teaser, the director and producer stated that the new movie will be more of a psychological horror story. In the 2001 game, protagonist James Sunderland was searching for his dead wife in the town after a mysterious letter came from her. In the process, he got to find out how she died. Hadida said that in the new movie, they will be covering that, but will make it modern.
