‘Man of Steel 2’ Reportedly in the Works With Henry Cavill Returning

Superman might return to the skies after almost 10 years since his first movie (spoilers ahead)

The DCEU has been a dumpster fire since the disappointing Justice League movie in 2017. WB’s desire to be just like the MCU instead of paying respect to the DC tone resulted in the movies failing. Zack Snyder’s divide among the fanbase was also a reason, even if many still enjoy his movies. But after the merger with Discovery, it seems things are actually looking up. The extended universe that started with 2013’s Man of Steel is reportedly getting a sequel now.

If recent reports are to be believed, Man of Steel 2 with Henry Cavill returning as Superman is indeed in the works. DC producer Charles Roven is involved in the project, and WB is looking for a director. Among those in the wishlist is Mission: Impossible‘s Christopher McQuarrie, who had worked with Cavill in 2018’s Fallout.

Another interesting thing to talk about is how WB Discovery will handle the tone. Man of Steel created a great divide, as Snyder showed a darker Superman, trying to do good for a world that hates and fears him. Many wanted to see Christpher Reeve’s smiling Superman who always saves the day and doesn’t let the bad thoughts break him down. However, Snyder’s movie is undoubtedly one of the best comic book movie adaptations ever.

A Surprise Appearance

It may not be much of a surprise at this point, as many already know that Cavill returns in Black Adam. As a result, the gratitude goes to Dwayne Johnson, who had been campaigning for Cavill’s return for more than five years. A Superman vs Black Adam fight is what everything is heading to, so it will be exciting to see if it happens in Man of Steel 2.
