Fast & Furious: The Release of the 9th Installment of the Iconic Action Franchise Pushed Back to Next Year. Check Out all the Details Below.

We will be getting yet another Fast & Furious movie with more cars, returning friends, and more drama.

Fast & Furious 9 had been nearing its release date, but due to the coronavirus pandemic that has been plaguing the world, it’s been postponed by an entire year. But the hype still remains for the huge franchise and Vin Diesel’s return as Dominic Toretto.

New release date

The movie was set to be released on May 22, 2020, and the cast was hearing up for doing promotions throughout the world. Then after seeing the world’s current situation, it was decided on March that the movie will be pushed back an entire year and will be releasing on April 2, 2021.

The movies had enjoyed immense success in the past, with Fast & Furious 7 and 8 crossing the $1 billion mark, and seven currently stands as the ninth biggest movie of all time, having collected $1.51 billion.

Its spin-off, Hobbs & Shaw, was entertaining enough but did not get the same collections as the other movies, but everyone is still hopeful about Fast & Furious 9. In fact, they already have a tenth movie planned.

Filming for the movie took place between June and November 2019, and the locations were London, Los Angeles, Edinburgh, Thailand, and Georgia.

As for the cast, the leads are returning except for Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham, and the new cast member is John Cena, who was revealed in the trailer as Dom’s brother, and towards the end of the trailer, we see Han (Sung Kang) alive and well. So guess that means Shaw spared him? Jordana Brewster will be returning as well, as Dom’s sister Mia.

Cena’s role as Jakob is the biggest mystery of the movie, with everyone confused if he’s the villain or a misunderstood person. Let’s wait till we see the movie….next year.
