Aneesh Chaganty, the director of searching, said in an interview that it was always a matter of transforming something that is cold or ordinary—personally used devices—into something dramatic. According to him, this is accomplished by burying emotion beneath it. He stated that the movie was extremely classically and conventionally constructed, and that it was always important to put the story and the characters first so that these applications and websites could actually serve them rather than the other way around.

He further stated in a statement that with such constrained visual constraints, a film like Missing needs a unique visual style to set it apart from the original. She claimed that when the movie was originally announced, she made her small contribution to this expanding subgenre and even said that Nick and Will, who were involved from the start, have the capacity to advance it much farther.

A few years ago, this digital filming method may have sounded experimental, but it has gained popularity as more and more professionals in the field use it.
