When asked about the cancellation, the creator of the show” Terri Minsky said “I didn’t want to end with a cliffhanger. She believes people will miss Andi and her friends and family.  She said that she had the honor of breaking a lot of new ground for Disney Channel. They were there first serialized show, its the first series centered around an Asian American family, and the first one to feature an LGBTQ character who spoke the words ‘I’m gay.
