The television series Andi Mack, was on air for three years and delivering three quite successful seasons in its course. It has been decided upon for cancellation by the Disney Channel. Even after being the channel’s most-watched series and receiving nominations for a large number of awards, Disney Channel has decided to call-off this show to its LGBTQ inclusion.
About the Show
The series showed a group of teenagers Andi, a 13-year-old girl and her friends Cyrus, Buffy, and Jonah. Andi eventually discovers her feelings for a boy when she learns that her best friend, Cyrus, has developed feelings for the same guy. With the help of the latter’s friends and family, Cyrus slowly discovers himself and eventually accepts the way he is.
When asked about the cancellation, the creator of the show” Terri Minsky said “I didn’t want to end with a cliffhanger. She believes people will miss Andi and her friends and family.  She said that she had the honor of breaking a lot of new ground for Disney Channel. They were there first serialized show, its the first series centered around an Asian American family, and the first one to feature an LGBTQ character who spoke the words ‘I’m gay. She added that the best part of making Andi Mack was the audience, who let us know we mattered to them. The series finale is for them.
The president of Disney Channel said that Three years ago, they challenged Terri Minsky to create a new series that broadened and expanded the Disney Channel brand, so was born Andi Mack. They are grateful to Terri, her team and the outstanding cast, led by Peyton Elizabeth Lee, which delivered a meaningful and satisfying conclusion to three wonderful seasons of this brilliant series.
