Season one aired from April 6 to September 28, 2019 and had 26 episodes. Towards the end, we got to see the buildup for the next arc, which the makers had decided to turn into a movie. The movie is called Kimetsu no Yaiba: Mugen Train and it’s current release date is set at October 16, 2020. If the coronavirus doesn’t cause further problems, the movie will be released on time, but don’t be surprised if the date gets pushed back.
As for season 2, it’s scheduled to release in Spring 2021. The plot will be picking up from where the movie ended. Expect to see the rest of the Hashiras in action, starting with the Sound Hashira Uzui Tengen. We do not have information regarding the number of episodes or how much volumes they are going to cover in this season. It will be updated as soon as the studio releases more information.
For those who are unaware of the story, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is the anime adaptation of the manga series by the same name written and illustrated by Koyoharu Gotōge. The story is set in the Taishō-era of Japan, which is the early 1900s.
The story is about Tanjiro Kamado, a kid, hardworking boy who used to live with his family atop a mountain. He was the provider following the death of his father. Things take a drastic turn when he returns home one day to find his family slaughtered with the sole surviver being his sister Nezuko – who had turned into a demon. But Nezuko didn’t have the bloodlust common in demons and showed basic human emotions. Tanjiro decides then to cure his sister in whatever means necessary and embarks on a journey to rid the world of demons.
