The son of former NFL player who was “Wanted” on murder charges for shooting his parents in Minnesota has now been arrested in Mexico. The wanted Dylan John Bennett is arrested for second-degree murder charges at a hotel in Cancun.
The authorities say that he had contacted the sheriff of the town to surrender to the FBI, but another sheriff states that the accused was arrested before the news could reach them and the Mexican Authorities detained him. He would now be turned to FBI for further investigation of the case.
The bodies of his parents, Barry Bennett, 63, and Carol, Barry’s wife were found dead on Wednesday at their home in Long Prairie. The cause of their death was ruled homicide from gunshots. Along with this, adding on to the crime scene was Dylan Bennett’s car was there with an empty box for a 9mm handgun along with ammunition. The investigators believe them to be dead on Monday. It was a cold-blooded murder with multiple gunshots at back, head, and torso of his parents. Bullets killed his father on the torso and head while his mother had numerous shots in the back and torso.
When the criminal complaint came up, it further revealed that Dylan had once discussed killing both of his parents while he was in the mental health treatment facility. Barry Bennett was seen out of the house on Monday in Long Prairie at about the time of noon. Moreover, then earlier that day, Dylan was seen withdrawing a tremendous amount of cash from the bank. His mother’s credit and debit card were also used in Wisconsin, Illinois, and Ohio on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Her car was later in Columbus, Ohio.
Barry Bennett has played 11 seasons with the New Orleans Saints, the New York Jets, and Minnesota Vikings.
