Bad Crimes: Netflix Announces New Animated Show from the Creators of ‘The Office’ and ‘King of the Hill’

Comedy duo Nicole Byer and Lauren Lapkus will lead the show

Netflix is rolling out a new animated comedy series titled Bad Crimes, with Nicole Byer and Lauren Lapkus to lend the voices to the two lead characters. 10 episodes have been ordered by the streamer, and the show is set to be a dark comedy procedural.

Bad Crimes is the story of Kara (Byer), and Jennie (Lapkus), who are two FBI agents who have to travel across the United States to solve numerous gruesome crimes while going through numerous other ordeals like friendship, career ambitions, and romantic adventures as well.

The show is created and executive produced by Nicole Silverberg (Full Frontal with Samantha Bee). Iconic comedy duo Mike Judge and Greg Daniels, who are credited for shows like King of the Hill, The Office, and Silicon Valley will produce under their newly-formed company Bandera Entertainment. Lead stars Byer and Lapkus will also join the list of executive producers. Additionally, Erica Hayes, known for Big Mouth and Rick and Morty will also be on board as an executive producer.

Byer and Lapkus, who are friends outside the industry, have previously worked with Netflix. Byer had been the host of Netflix’s baking competition series Nailed It! since it began in 2018 and even received two Emmy nominations for her work. She also released the recent comedy special BBW (Big Beautiful Weirdo). Meanwhile, Lapkus had first appeared on various episodes of the Netflix dramedy series Orange is the New Black, came as a judge on Nailed It!, and also appeared on Between Two Ferns: The Movie and The Wrong Missy. 

We are yet to receive a trailer or release date for Bad Crimes.
