Apple has secured the project in a $100 million+ deal
Here’s some exciting news. Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow) and Chris Evans (Captain America) will be uniting after Avengers Endgame. They will star together in Project Artemis, to be directed by Jason Bateman (Arrested Development, Ozark).
About Project Artemis
Very little is known about the project, except that it will revolve around the space race. This can mean that the project is sci-fi. Apple bought the project in a $100 million+ deal. After CODA won Best Picture at the Oscars this year, Apple is moving forward with renewed energy. This is another massive purchase for the studio, after paying more than $200 million on Argyle. Argyle tells an F1 racing story with Brad Pitt as the lead, and Matthew Vaughn as director.
Bateman will also produce the movie under his Aggregate Films production company. Aggregate had previously produced FX’s A Teacher, and the upcoming Under The Banner of Heaven. For Netflix, they produced Florida Man, and Your Place or Mine. For Apple, they previously produced Lessons in Chemistry. The other executive producers include Jonathan Lia and Keenan Flynn under their These Pictures production company.
Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson’s Previous Project
Both Evans and Johansson were originally going to star on Apple’s Ghosted. But Johansson had to opt out due to scheduling conflicts, and Ana de Armas stepped in. Evans is currently filming for the project. Meanwhile, Johansson is working with Apple for Bride, which she is also producing.
Apple is slowly catching up behind its competitors Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, and Disney+. They are releasing Scorcese’s Killers Of The Flower Moon, and the Russo Brothers’ The Gray Man. It will be exciting to see Evans and Johansson share the screen again.
