Quantum Leap’ Sequel Series Green-Lit by NBC

The original aired almost 30 years ago

NBC has released the first look image of their rebooted version of hit classic, Quantum Leap. The original, starring Scott Bakula in the lead, aired 30 years ago on NBC. It aired for five seasons and was a massive hit. The new series has cast Here and Now star Raymond Lee. A first-look image of Lee in character has also been released.

About the New Quantum Leap

Quantum Leap
NBC

The comedy-drama was picked up for a pilot in January, and recently got done with production. Quantum Leap is written by Steven Lilien and Bryan Wynbrandt, the duo behind Alcatraz and God Friended Me.

The series is a sequel to the original. It’s been 30 years since Dr. Sam Beckett stepped into the accelerator and vanished. A new team has got together to restart the Quantum Leap project so that they can understand the numerous mysteries behind the machine as well as Dr. Beckett. Original series creator Don Bellisario will also be on board the project and will be an executive producer. Other executive producers include Wyndbrandt, Lilien, Deborah Pratt, and Martin Gero (creator of Blindspot).

Additional cast members include Caitlin Bassett, Mason Alexander Park, Ernie Hudson, and Nanrisa Lee. We are not sure if original star Bakula will be attached to the project or will appear in a cameo. Meanwhile, Bakula is currently starring in another NBC drama named Unbroken.
