Lifetime partners with KFC for a mini-movie on Colonial Sanders with Mario Lopez as the lead

Just when you thought the year can’t get any more bizarre

Colonel Sanders is iconic for both his fast-food chain Kentucky Fried Chicken and as a meme based on it. Thanks to social media, he will be getting his small screen debut as well.

On Monday, Lifetime announced that they have partnered with Kentucky Fried Chicken for a mini-movie titled “A Recipe For Seduction.” Wait… what? Looks like the movie has drawn inspiration from the sexy Colonel Sanders memes and vines because we are getting Saved by the Bell actor Mario Lopez as Harland Sanders, a handsome chef with a “secret fried chicken recipe and a dream,” as per the trailer.

The story is centered around Sanders and a young heiress who falls for him, but her scheming mother is attempting to set her up with someone of her choosing.

The film is 15 minutes long, and seems to include all the ‘savory’ bits and pieces that is atypical of a Lifetime movie, and is also the channel’s first ever custom branded content – one that will show the unique marketing of the fast food chain giant.

KFC U.S. CMO Andrea Zahumensky said during a press release that we’re not strangers to hearing things up during the holidays, but this holiday especially needs a little distraction, so everyone should watch this suspenseful drama of their world famous fried chicken from the comforts of their home.

This announcement went viral real quick and jokes started coming from all corners of the internet. People started comparing the absurd movie to the already absurd year and everyone had a good old laugh.

Another bit of information is that Uber is also partnering up with the film, and Uber Eats will be giving six free extra crispy tenders with a purchase of $20 or more. The offer will be available from December 13 to 19.
