‘Squid Game’, ‘Arcane’, and others have also secured awards

It’s Emmy Awards season, and we have some big wins to celebrate. Among these are certain figures who have had careers in different sectors of the political or entertainment industry, while others have received their award posthumously. Without further ado, let’s take a look at the winners.

Let’s start off with former US president Barack Obama, who won his first Emmy Award on Saturday in the Best Narrator category for his Netflix documentary series, Our Great National Parks. Mr. Obama is officially an Egot, since he had previously won two Grammys, an Oscar, and a Tony. He is the second US president to win the prestigious acting award.

Next up, we have Adele, who is one step closer to achieving EGOT status. The pop star won on Saturday for her TV concert special, Adele: One Night Only. Her latest achievement takes its place among her 15 Grammys and Oscar for “Skyfall”, her Bond theme. The singer posted a picture, cheekily captioning it, “Trust me to officially have an EGO.”

Then, we have the late Chadwick Boseman, who brought the latest Emmy win to the Marvel Cinematic Universe for Outstanding Voice-Over Performance as Star-Lord T’Challa in What If…?. The actor had been in four episodes.

Finally, let’s talk about animation. Netflix’s Arcane, the first show based on Riot Games’ League of Legends won an Emmy for Outstanding Animated Program. The series has been making the news for its brilliant animation and compelling storyline since it hit the streamer in November 2021.

Another Netflix original, Love, Death & Robots, won the Outstanding Short Form Animated Program award for its episode “Jibaro.”
