Beverly Johnson Opens Up About Getting Engaged to Brian Maillian and her experience with him!

The 67-year old supermodel is going to get married for the third time

Beverly Johnson has done something she never expected to do. She recently got engaged to financier Brian Maillian. After her two failed marriages, one to real estate agent Billy Potter in 1974 and another to music producer Danny Sims in 1979, the supermodel had vowed never to get married again. But here she is, engaged at the age of 67.

In an interview with People, she spilled the tea on her engagement. “I was like how the heck did that happen? I was saying I’m never going to get married again.”

A surprise proposal

Johnson is iconic in the modelling industry as she was the first Black woman to appear in the cover of Vogue in 1974, and said that finding the love of her life at this point has been amazing. She said the engagement was unexpected as Maillian popped the question while they had gone to attend an event in Palm Springs along with their extended family members.

She said that Brian’s 88-year-old mother took off her wedding ring and passed it down the table till it reached Brian, and Johnson was already sobbing uncontrollably when he asked the question. Brian’s mother also let her wear the ring for the rest of the day. They didn’t buy their own engagement ring however, but instead bought a house instead.

Maillian is the chairman and founder of Whitestone Capital Group, Inc., a financial firm that deals in purchase, sale, and brokerage of securities. Johnson revealed that just like how she was breaking boundaries in the fashion industry, he had been doing the same on Wall Street. She said that one of the things she loves about him is that he’s closer to her age (Brian is 70) and that they have a lot more similarities between them.
