Netflix’s original cooking show Ugly Delicious has been renewed for its second season. The show is hosted and created by American restaurateur, author, and television personality David Chang along with filmmaker Morgan Neville. He announced the news of the new season through his official Instagram page. Chang posted a video of his mother, Sherri (who was also featured in an episode “Home Cooking”).
In episodes of Ugly Delicious’s first season, we see Chang eating food from various restaurants and home kitchens from everywhere in the world. He dines with eminent culinary experts, chefs, celebrities, artists, and writers. Season one generally features episodes on pizza, tacos, and other popular foods. The series also explained various segments through montages while exploring the origins and lineage of most famous dishes.
What is the controversy regarding Ugly Delicious?
The show is widely acclaimed by critics and audiences for its approach in exploring the culinary and food world. It was also condemned for the number of women featured in its episodes. In an episode about barbecue, there were not any African-American chefs or culinary experts. The host David Chang in 2018’s Code Conference said in exchange for the criticism that they did their best in making the first season and they were not trying to be exclusive. He also said that he will keep that in mind for the next season.
When will season 2 come?
Chang is yet to announce the foods and locations which he will show in Ugly Delicious‘s second season. They might feature Nathan Myhrvold’s Intellectual Ventures in Seattle.
The second season will be released on 6th March 2019 on Netflix.
