Babylon Berlin has a number of characters and a great storyline. The show is taking place in the Weimar period of German history, allowing Babylon Berlin co-creator Tom Tykiver to give a representation of the culture of that period. It shows how fragile democracy can break the gap between political interests and cultural progressivism. A political relevance that is linked to our current times but is ultimately rooted in its historical period can be seen in the series. The musical numbers are also terrific.

The show was based in Berlin in 1929. Later on, the story of Gereon Rath, a police inspector who is on assignment from Cologne, and who is on a mission to expose an extortion ring, and that of Charlotte Ritter, police clerk by day whose dream is to become a police inspector follows. Also, the story will revolve mostly around how Gereon Rath, the police inspector, is trying to keep things in control.
