Clueless Gets A TV Reboot But Fans Of The Iconic ’90s Movie Are Not Happy At All – Find Out Why

Seems as though wherever you look nowadays, a reboot of a classic movie/series is happening. Sometimes they work out and sometimes they don’t. But mostly, they create a lot of hype as well as criticism for the new adaptation. Which is exactly what is happening with the Clueless reboot.

Yes, your 90s dream High school movie is coming back to the silver screen. CBS TV Studios are producing the comedy based on Jane Austen’s novel Emma. The cult film revolves around Santa Monica sweetheart Cher Horowitz and her attempts to set up newbie Tai (Brittany Murphy) with various potential boyfriends. And in the mission, Cher too finds love and learns some lessons.

But but but, CBS is choosing to go a very different way with the theme of the series. Instead of it being funny and light-hearted, the new spin-off will be darker in tone. Rumors say that the plot will be about queen bee Cher’s sudden disappearance from Bel Air. Her best friend Dionne is trying to find out where she had gotten lost while also unwittingly taking her place in the High School social hierarchy. Sounds a lot like Riverdale, now doesn’t it?

And as expected, fans are not happy at all. While some think the original should have remained untouched, others were disappointed with the direction the show is heading in. But the CBS series is not the first one to be made in the movie.

After Amy Heckerling’s Clueless in 1995, ABC made a spin-off for the television screen. But let’s talk about the most important part of the movie – the fashion. Her matching plaid skirt-suit is the stuff of many a teenage dream. And who can forget the body-hugging white Calvin Klein dress?

Hopefully, if for nothing else, the new show brings some more iconic fashion moments.
