After introducing the viewers to the strange and twisted world by Stephen King, Hulu is back with the second season of Castle Rock.
The first season of Castle Rock premiered last year on the 25th of July. And the response meted to the first season of the weekly series, inspired its makers to treat the viewers with a second season.
The second season of Castle Rock, being an anthology series focuses on a new story and characters, centered on Stephen King’s iconic Misery Captor Annie Wilkes (played by Lizzy Caplan). Explaining about the series, Thomason said that the basic idea of it all is that the series is an anthology.
That is to say that the makers would tell a new story that gives the viewers a different lens into Castle Rock and Stephen King each season. The thing they, as makers, are really excited about is the way that the Stephen King universe operates, and in this way, each story would stand alone, but that they would be circling back to the characters whose stories intersect with the new stories.
The first season of Castle Rock left some unanswered questions, so will they be answered in the next season? Well, the synopsis of the upcoming season by TV Guide reads, “In Season 2, a feud between warring clans comes to a boil when budding psychopath Annie Wilkes, Stephen King’s nurse from hell, gets waylaid in Castle Rock.”
So according to this, in the upcoming season, viewers would witness a cockadoodie origin story of their much-loved madwoman from King’s 1987 novel Misery.
The new season of Castle Rock will premiere on 23rd October. Prior to that, there will also be a screening and panel for the upcoming season on the 5th of October at New York Comic-Con at the Hulu Theatre in Maddison Square Garden.
