After criticism regarding Twilight star Robert Pattinson playing Batman, Christian Bale has given his best Batman advice to the actor.
Bale portrayed Bruce Wayne in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy from 2005 to 2012. When he was asked about what advice he’d offer Pattinson, he told ExtraTV: “Don’t listen to the naysayers.”
After the news reports confirmed Pattinson’s casting as the next Batman, some Twitter users criticized the decision. Speaking at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), Bale urged the actor to “make [the role] his own.”
Bale said that everyone condemned the decision when Heath was cast as the Joker. Well, next is history. Bale added that he shouldn’t “listen to those guys” and “do his own thing.” He also praised Pattinson, saying he is “a fascinating actor and a great choice.”
Meanwhile, Pattinson isn’t the first actor to play the caped crusader since Bale. In 2016, Ben Affleck portrayed the character in both Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad.
Recently, it was revealed that Pattinson was “furious” with early reports confirming his casting since it would ruin his chances. Currently, the actor is filming Nolan’s new espionage thriller, Tenet, which will release in summer 2020.
Moreover, Reeves’s untitled Batman film will release in 2021.
