The former Nickelodeon star has published her new memoir “Im Glad My Mom Died”

Jennette McCurdy has a whole new mindset today, and that may be due to writing.

The star, who rose to fame with Nickelodeon’s iCarly and its spin-off Sam & Cat, has shared how she had endured abuse at the hands of her mother as she grew up, and fell victim to anorexia and other ailments. In a new interview with Good Morning America, McCurdy shares her new viewpoints. Let’s take a look.

Jennette McCurdy started by saying that grief towards her mother used to be really complicated, and she used to feel angry and confused at why she was always grieving her angrily. Jennette’s mother Debra died in 2013 after battling cancer. She said her mother did not deserve her tears or sadness because she was abusive.

But Jennette shared that working on her memoir was able to help her change her grieving process. She said it was able to simplify the whole process and now she can just miss her mother. Writing the book had healed her, says Jennette McCurdy.

Jennette McCurdy said that she will not have told this story if her mother had been alive. Aside from talking about her mother, the memoir also covers many difficult tasks and people that she had faced as a child actor. Disgraced Nickelodeon producer and creative Dan Schneider also gets his section.McCurdy admits that she had put a lot of uncomfortable truths in the book, and the more uncomfortable it was for her to write about, the more important it was to be mentioned.
