The memes have already hinted that
HBO’s Euphoria is officially the most-tweeted show of this decade. Due to the massive fan following of lead star Zendaya, and the amount of incoming memes, everyone seems to be talking about Euphoria. A huge reason for this can be due to HBO releasing the episodes on a weekly basis. It is an impressive achievement for HBO, as none of their shows trended this much. Disney has the MCU series, Netflix has Ozark and Squid Game, and now HBO has Euphoria.
The tweets
The first season of Euphoria dropped in 2019, and it definitely stood out. Its highlighted themes handled some pretty serious topics, and the show gained a lot of traction. But when Season two arrived this year, there was a 51% rise in Twitter activity.
The most-discussed topics were of course the heated fights between Maddy (Alexa Demie) and Cassie (Sydney Sweeney). Then there is the Nate Jacobs (Jacob Elordi) hate groups, who get together to discuss what a bad person he is. One of the new topics are of fans shipping beloved characters Lexi (Maude Apatow) with Fezco (Angus Cloud). Now everyone is waiting heatedly for the finale to drop on Sunday.
Meme culture influence
Memes are a huge part of garnering attention to shows, movies, or advertising in general. It is impressive how the internet got flooded with Euphoria memes out of nowhere. Even celebrities like Drake, Kid Cudi, Halsey, Jack Harlow, and others retweeted them. Due to the week-to-week release, people are properly absorbing each episode, and of course, making some pretty hilarious memes.
Meanwhile, Euphoria has been renewed for season 3 ahead of the finale. How hyped are you to see more on Rue and her friends?
