True Haunting: Erin Moriarty and Jamie Campbell Bower Cast in New Horror Flick About the First Televised Exorcism

The movie will be adapted from the 2011 novel by Edwin F. Becker

The Boys star Erin Moriarty and Mortal Instruments star Jamie Campbell Bower has signed in for a horror movie. They will star in True Haunting, an adaptation on the 2011 novel of the same name by Edwin F. Becker. The book, in turn, is based on a real-life event in the lives of the Becker family.

True Haunting is indeed a true haunting. It happened to the Beckers in 1971. Ed and Marsha Becker, a young couple with their newborn purchases a building that was built and occupied by a single family. However, the family refused to relinquish it even after death. The young couple moves in, but soon they experience numerous paranormal events. NBC covered the event soon after and millions tuned in to watch it. But the exorcism only made things worse for the Beckers.The book discusses how even learnt experts cannot exorcise spirits that have a strong sense of domain.

Moriarty and Campbell will play the Beckers. The supporting cast has not been announced yet, but we can expect it soon enough.

The movie will be directed by Gary Fleder (Homefront). Fleder also directed episodes of the MMA series Kingdom recently. The script is written by Richard DÓvidio with revisions by Blair Butler. DÓvidio is familiar with horror movies, having written projects like Thir13en Ghosts and The Damned. Meanwhile, Butler had written movies like Polaroid and Hell Fest.

Bower can be seen next in season four of Netflix’s Stranger Things. Moriarty is gearing up for the third season of The Boys.

True Haunting is expected to come out sometime in 2023.
