The series was in development for eight years
Paramount+ unveiled the official trailer for Halo 2 days ago, and has created a great amount of excitement. From what we saw so far, the series has managed to capture the looks and visuals from the games really well.
The show’s future
It may be too soon to decide, but should Halo get a second season at Paramount+, it will have a new showrunner. The first season was overseen by Steven Kane and Kyle Killen, who oversaw physical production and writing and production respectively. Both have since departed from the show, with Kane stating that he will only be on board as a consultant in the future.
Executive producer Justin Falvey has now told reporters on Tuesday that if the show goes on, it will be handled by Fear the Walking Dead showrunner David Wiener.
Executive producer Kiki Wolfkill of game publisher 343 Studios gave some insight. She spoke about the “fits and starts” that they went through. Most of the work was getting the right team together. She praised Showtime, who was the only partner at the start, for their support. But the real challenge was to provide authenticity to the show.
Adapting a novel or a video game into live action is a massive task, and if the producers mess up, the criticism will never end.
Steven Spielberg’s involvement
Darryl Frank, co-president of Amblin Television spoke about Steven Spielberg, an executive produce at the early stages. He recalled how Spielberg paid a close eye to the development, and how he asked them to look after it like it was one of his properties.
We will get to see if the eight years of effort has paid off as Halo premieres on Paramount+ on March 24.
