The Apple project will begin production soon
Scarlett Johansson would not be reuniting with her former Marvel co-star Chris Evans.in the Apple Original Film Ghosted. Instead, Evans’ Knives Out co-star Ana de Armas will star opposite him. Johansson’s exit was amicable, and sources describe it was due to a scheduling conflict.
Production team
Ghosted will be directed by Dexter Fletcher, known for Rocketman and Eddie the Eagle. It will be produced by Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger, with Jules Daly, Evans, and de Armas serving as executive producers. Ghosted will mark Ana De Armas’ first time as an executive producer in a project.
The movie will be written by Deadpool and Zombieland‘s writing duo Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who will also produce. Reese and Wernick had developed the original idea and sold it to Sundance, which was later also acquired by Apple.
The movie is scheduled for a February production date, which didn’t match Johansson’s schedule. David Ellison was the one who suggested Ana de Armas, who is currently a big name owing to Knives Out and No Time to Die. She is also starring alongside Evans and Ryan Gosling in Anthony and Joe Russo’s The Gray Man for Netflix, and in Ben Affleck’s psychological thriller Deep Water. Ana De Armas was also announced in the John Wick spin-off movie, Ballerina.
Apple’s other projects
Apple has some big projects coming its way, such as Martin Scorsese-directed Killers of the Flower Moon, the Will Smith-Antoine Fuqua film Emancipation, and the Ridley Scott-directed Kitbag with Joaquin Phoenix as Napoleon Bonaparte, with Jodie Foster starring as his wife Josephine. Some of its award-worthy titled include CODA, The Tragedy of Macbeth, Swan Song and Finch.
