The Revolutionary War is coming
Starz has provided new details about the highly-anticipated sixth season of Outlander, including its release date. Thankfully, we will not have to wait long.
The news was released along with the ninth book of the series, Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone, written by Diana Gabaldon. Season 6 will be premiering on March 6, 2022.
The story so far
Outlander’s season 5 ended with Claire (Caitríona Balfe) escaping a violent ambush from Lionel Brown (Ned Dennehy), and going back to Fraser’s Ridge with Jamie (Sam Heughan). But their troubles are far from over, as the American Revolutionary War looms over the horizon. Meanwhile, Brianna (Sophie Skelton) and Roger (Richard Rankin) get married. But their relationship faces a hurdle due to the reappearance of Stephen Bonnet (Ed Speelers), who captures Brianna.
Meanwhile, Claire continues her medical practices and manages to produce penicillin and tries to provide assistance under a pseudonym. But she gets caught by Lionel Brown and his men, and get gang raped before being rescued by Jamie, Roger, and other men of the Ridge. Brown gets captured and interrogated by Jamie, but is later killed by Mrs. Bug.
What’s new in season 6?
Season 6 will introduce the Christie Family, consisting of Tom (Mark lewis Jones), and his children Allan (Alexander Vlahos), and Malva (Jessica Reynolds). Tom had been acquainted with Jamie in Ardsmuir, but they are not allies yet. While they are playing opposition, Balfe stated that they’re not your typical villains, and that there are going to be a lot of twists this season.
Outlander’s makers also hinted that something ominous is about to happen to Claire and Jamie, who both think they will be safe at Fraser’s Ridge. But they do not know that their own home will turn against them.
Tune into the Starz app on March 6 to see how things unfold in the brand new season of Outlander.
