“Don’t sing for murderers”
Justin Bieber has received a very unusual request ahead of his concert in Saudi Arabia.
The lady who was engaged to marry the late journalist Jamal Khashoggi has reached out to the singer asking him not to perform on December 5 as Saudi Arabia hosts the Formula One Saudi Arabian Grand Prix at Jeddah, Saudi Arabia’s second-largest city.
Please, Justin Bieber, @justinbieber don’t perform for the regime that killed my fiance #justinbieber #saudiPawn https://t.co/dXM9XszvNG

Hatice Cengiz’s letter
Hatice Cengiz had written an open letter attached to a tweet to Justin Bieber on Saturday, where pleaded him not to perform for the “murderers” who got her reporter fiancée killed. She said that Justin Bieber must send a powerful message to the world that his name and talent must not be used to restore the reputation of a regime that kills those who criticize them.
Khashoggi was a Saudi-born U.S. resident who used to write opinion columns for the Washington Post. He was captured and killed by the crown prince’s minions in Istanbul.
Cengiz blames Mohammed Bin Salman (known commonly as MBS), the crown prince, deputy minister, and minister of defense in Saudi Arabia. Salman is also the chairman of the Council of Economic and Development Affairs and chairman of the Council of Political and Security Affairs.
Saudi Arabia’s history
Many other human rights groups have also spoken against performers doing concerts for the Saudi Arabian audience. Human Rights Watch had previously stated that Saudi Arabia has a history of using celebrities and major international events to shift media attention from their abusive political acts. The groups have urged singer Jason Derulo, rapper A$AP Rocky, and DJs Tiesto and David Guetta.
Cengiz finished her open letter by saying that he should not perform for dictators, and should choose justice and freedom over money.
Justin Bieber hasn’t responded to the request yet.
