Enter the Godfather
If there was a category for Best Halloween Costume, the winner would be The Weeknd hands down. While celebrities went above and beyond with elaborate costumes, the “Blinding Lights” singer went a step ahead.
The 31-year-old Canadian Grammy winner dressed up as Marlon Brando’s iconic character Don Vito Corleone from The Godfather. With the accurate prosthetics, no one can recognize who it was underneath it. The Weeknd, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, shared images and a video on his official Instagram. In the video he was shown imitating the godfather’s iconic mannerisms.
The Weeknd’s undefeated Halloween streak
The Weeknd never failed to go above and beyond for Halloween in the past years. Last year, he dressed up as Eddie Murphy from The Nutty Professor, and packed in the pounds with prosthetics as well. Before that, he had dressed up as Jack Nicholson’s Joker from the 1989 Batman. When he was dating Bella Hadid, he and Bella dressed up as Beetlejuice and Lydia from Tim Burton’s famous movie. The singer had always managed to get the exact look using prosthetics, but this year’s costume is hailed as the best one so far.
Fans were commenting that he had never lost Halloween.
Other memorable costumes
Musical artists seem to be getting the spotlight this year. Lizzo wowed us a few days ago after dressing up as Grogu or Baby Yoda from The Mandalorian, and Meghan Thee Stallion dressed up as Hellraiser‘s Pinhead. Harry Styles also impressed fans after dressing up as Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz at his recent performance.
With his Halloween post, The Weeknd was able to avert some of the media’s attention from him and Hollywood star Angelina Jolie. We are now excited to see what the singer dresses up as for Halloween 2022.
