Let the crimes begin!
An official trailer for the Netflix adaptation of Mark Millar and Leinil Yu’s Super Crooks was dropped a few hours ago. Unveiled first at the TUDUM fan event in September, the new trailer offers a closer look at the world this anime is set on. We see a group of super-powered criminals hatch plans to get away with robberies and give authorities a hard time. All 13 episodes will release in its entirety on November 25.
The story
The trailer gives us an idea about the story. Ace criminal Johnny Bolt is busy gathering his team of outlaws for one final mission. However, this will be the riskiest job they’ve ever done. But if it goes well, they will all be millionaires and won’t have to work a day in their lives. That gets everyone’s hearts pumping and they agree to carry out the final mission. Soon, they find out that only two supervillains stand in their way. But one of them is introduced as Praetorian, a man who has 200 different powers.
How will they get hold of the money and fend of Praetorian at the same time?
The comic book series came out in 2012. It was supposed to be set in the world of Netflix’s now cancelled live-action series, Jupiter’s Legacy. Now, Super Crooks will have to make a name for itself on its own.
At the TUDUM event, Millar said that his first plan was to make it a low-budget European movie, but it soon morphed into an anime series. He said he is a huge animation fan, and he wants to see traditional American superheroes done in a Japanese style.
Production team
Super Crooks is directed by Motonobu Hori (Carole & Tuesday) and the animation is done by studio BONES (My Hero Academia).
