New Easter Eggs reveal how the story stayed true to the characters’ origins
We got to see a closer look into the new trailer of Rocksteady’s Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Upon closer look, an Easter Egg that honors the characters’ comic book origins was also found. Let’s take a look at that before we delve into the story.
In the first scene, we see that classic team prep, where each member is brought out in their prisoner outfits. It was great to see that Deadshot, Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, and King Shark was branded with their prisoner number which was first shown in the comics.
The story
We got to see the main reason why Amanda Waller rounded up the Suicide Squad to kill the Justice League. It was because Brainiac has invaded Earth and some of our heroes have fallen prey to him. And by some, I mean the ones we have seen so far. Superman, Green Lantern, and The Flash are now Brainiac’s puppets, and they pose a threat to the whole world. However, Wonder Woman isn’t in their control as there were sequences in the new trailer that showed her in a fight with Superman.
Batman’s status
The main question now is if Batman is also under Brainiac’s control. Since Rocksteady has developed the game, it’s safe to assume that it takes place in the same universe as the Batman Arkham titles. And we all know that Batman has “died” at the end of Arkham Knight. The few glimpses we saw of him was through a gold statue in the Hall of Justice. Then we saw a glider that Harley used, and the Batmobile, which the Suicide Squad looks to be using.
Perhaps the reason that Batman has not been shown is because he is a secret character that will surprise us midway through the game. After all, some of his famous villains are out on the streets to kill his teammates.
