Get ready to see Amy Adams sing again
Amy Adams has joined the cast of the film adaptation of Broadway musical Dear Evan Hansen. The musical had been one of 2016’s biggest Broadway hits and received six Tonys, including one for Best Musical. We will now be seeing the story in the big screen.

The movie will be directed by Stephen Chbosky, who wrote the popular coming-of-age novel The Perks of Being a Wallflower and directed 2017’s Wonder, a movie that received rave reviews. The film’s music and lyrics will be penned by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, the duo who won Academy awards for La La Land and The Greatest Showman.

As Deadline reports state, Adams will be playing Cynthia Murphy, the mother of Connor Murphy, Evan Hansen’s classmate who has committed suicide, and Moore will be playing Heidi Hansen, the loving, and perpetually swamped single mother of Evan. Ben Platt will be playing Evan and other cast members include Kaitlyn Dever, Amandla Stenberg, Nic Dodani and Colton Ryan, who had been part of the original play as well.
Adams had distinguished herself as a gifted singer when she sang for the musical films Enchanted and The Muppets. In fact, the movie will be opening with a song “Anybody Have a Map” between Moore and Adams’ characters.

The story is a out Evan Hansen, a teenager who struggles with social anxiety and gets caught up in a lie when his classmate Connor Murphy (played by Ryan) committed suicide, and his family mistakes one of Evan’s letters for the suicide note. In a bid to comfort Connor’s family and to learn what human connection is, Evan then pretends to be Connor’s best friend.
