Now you can use licensable images from Google for work related purposes
Google has added a new feature where users can filter results and view images that contain licensing information. It can be used for their personal or professional work.
How we can know it’s been licensed? The publisher or image creator will provide licensing information with the image, and Google will then put a “licensable” badge over it. In a statement on Monday, Google said, “When you select a badged image to view, we will show a link to the license details of the image, and if provided by the publisher, you’ll also find a link to where you can purchase or license the image.”
New Google Images features
Google has been working closely with image creators, stock image providers and digital content associations, and has released new features on Google Images.
Those who use Google Images can now filter results to only return those images that have received licensing information. Google stated, “You can now select either imaged that have Creative Commons licenses, in the Usage Rights drop-down menu on Google Images.” These were something that Google has been working on to make it clear who the copyright owner or creator of the images are.
Google has also made it easier to find images with licensing metadata. Users won’t have to see the “Labeled for Reuse” or “Labeled for Reuse with Modification” options on the usage rights drop-down menu when they go to Advanced Search. The new filters are “Creative Commons Licenses and “Commercial and Other Licenses.”
Aside from that, users can also seek information related to image credit, copyright and creator when they select an image to view on Google Images.
