ABC News Suspends Whoopi Goldberg for her Holocaust Remarks!
Caryn Elaine Johnson, professionally known as Whoopi Goldberg, is a famous American television celebrity. She is currently a host of The View show, which airs on ABC News.
Goldberg is recently in the news for her hurtful comments on the Holocaust. She remarked that the Holocaust involved two groups of white people. Her thoughts created massive havoc among the staff members of the news channel.
Whoopi apologized for her inappropriate remarks, but it was too late. The head of the ABC organization made a decision and suspended her for two weeks.
In a note to the staff, the president of ABC News, Kim Godwin, said, “From this point forward, I am suspending Whoopi Goldberg for two weeks for her hurtful and harmful remarks. While Whoopi has apologized, I’ve requested that she require some time to reflect and find out about the effect of her remarks. The whole ABC News association remains in fortitude with our Jewish partners, companions, family, and networks. These choices are not simple, however essential.”
In her first apology, she agreed to have a different approach towards the whole issue. She added, “My words upset such countless individuals, which was never my intention,” “I comprehend the reason why now and for that, I am profoundly, profoundly appreciative because the data I got was beneficial and assisted me with seeing a few distinct things.”
Although some people accepted her sincere apology, some did not heed it.
Goldberg has always been caught in controversies since her journalism started. In 2009 she commented on film director Roman Polanksi who was guilty of unlawful sex with a minor in 1977. She came in support of Polanski and went on to say that he was not guilty. Like Roman, she also defended Bill Cosby when charged with sexual assault allegations. These instances show how easily Goldberg has been a victim of controversies.
