Voices include Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Day, and Seth Rogen
In a recent special live stream event, Nintendo finally unveiled the official trailer for The Super Mario Bros. Movie, the second cinematic release of the beloved Italian plumber who had entertained gamers for decades. The teaser introduced fans to how Mario, Toad, and Bowser moved to animation, and now, we get a clear look at Princess Peach, Donkey Kong, and Luigi.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie Trailer
It is important to start off by saying that The Super Mario Bros. Movie looks nothing less than stunning. Illumination is already a behemoth when it comes to delivering crisp animations (the Despicable Me series) but The Super Mario Bros. Movie trailer still manages to blow us away. The last time Mario and Luigi came to the big screen was in the 1993 live-action disaster, Super Mario Bros. But this time, Nintendo made the wise decision to make the movie animated, and so far, things are looking good.
Aside from showing Mario (voiced by Chris Pratt), we got our first look at Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, and Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong. Peach castle was revealed in all its glory, and Bowser (Jack Black) and his army of Koopas who had kidnapped Luigi, and Mario attempting to duke it out with Donkey Kong. What’s even more exciting is that fire flowers, Tanooki suits, and kart racing is here. Oh, and so is Rainbow Road. Another wonderful change is that Peach won’t be a princess in need of saving, but a warrior who is looking to assemble an army against Bowser.
Cast Release Date
Additional cast include Keegan-Michael Key as Toad and Kevin Micahel Richardson as Kamek. Charles Martinet, the original voice actor of Mario, will make cameo appearances as well. However, the one thing that still sticks out is Pratt’s voice of Mario, but that might smooth over the more we hear it.
As for the release date, The Super Mario Bros. Movie will be out on April 7, 2023.
