Surprise for CAT lovers!! Nine Noir Lives Receives An International Cat Day Trailer

Silvernode Games unveiled a fresh teaser for their next point-and-click adventure game, Nine Noir Lives, in honor of International Cat Day.

The game, as its name suggests, follows Cuddles Nutterbutter, a cat private eye, as he licks his way through a homicide investigation.

Nine Noir Lives is reportedly inspired by “classic adventure games like Grim Fandango and Broken Sword, but it also draws inspiration from the works of classic film noir, Shakespeare, and Taika Waititi,” according to the two-person Silvernode Games team.

The Montemeeuw and Catulet families of Meow Meow Furrington are in a tizzy over a murder that Detective Cuddles Nutterbutter and his aide Tabby Marshmallow are tasked with uncovering. They will be led through hand-drawn sceneries where they will encounter various fully voiced NPCs and have to overcome “devious” puzzles as they do their inquiry.

Throughout the inquiry, players will have the option to swap between Cuddles Nutterbutter and Tabby Marshmallow. As they explore the city of Meow Meow Furrington and lick pretty much everything they uncover, players can anticipate plenty of cat jokes.

The International Cat Day clip, which demonstrates the interaction button that allows for licking in adventure games, focuses mostly on the licking mechanic. Despite the murder taking place in the background, the 50 second trailer does a lot to set the tone of Nine Noir Lives as one that is quite light and humorous.

Cuddles Nutterbutter can lick almost anything in the environment, and anyone he licked will cause reactions in others around him. The fact that Cuddles is free to lick anything he pleases does not automatically imply that this behavior is seen as usual.

More Cats Means S’more S’more Fun: Switch between Cuddles and Tabby Marshmallow, his dependable companion, to see the city from two very distinct angles.

On September 7, 2022, Nine Noir Lives will become live on PC and Mac through GOG and Steam. On those platforms, players can currently check out a demo of the game.
