Kelly McGillis reveals the real reason behind being left out from the 1986 sequel.
We had already reported a few days back that Kelly McGillis isn’t a part of ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ after starring in the original. She had previously told that she wasn’t invited to be a part of it. Her statement sparked quite some speculations behind the actual reason for not making her a part of it.
The real reason
Now, in a candid chat with ET Online, she upfront reveals the reason behind her exclusion from the sequel, which is her old age. Actress says that since she is old and fat and she looks age-appropriate for her age, so that is what the whole picture is about. She hadn’t expected them to make her a part either.
The actress who was the lead in the original 1986 movie “Top Gun’ must have been a little disappointed, however, she maintains that she would much rather feel secure in her skin, and who and what she is at her age as opposed to placing value on all other stuff.
The movie which will release on 2020 June might not have the actress as one of its first audiences, “I’m not racing to the theatre, and I’m not racing away from the theatre to see it,” she said.
The actress was diagnosed with alpha one antitrypsin disorder five years ago. She is living a sober and peaceful life with her family in North Carolina.
Kelly’s work as Charlie in ‘Top Gun’ is one of her well-received works, and her sizzling chemistry with Tom Cruise, whose flight instructor and love interest Charlie was, is widely appreciated.
Fans of the movie surely miss their Charlie, but Top Gun: Maverick has generated a lot of excitement among the fans with its trailer itself.
