Rapper Kodak Black was arrested in Florida on Friday after he was found to be carrying drugs. He was searched at a traffic stop in Fort Lauderdale. Kodak was charged with a felony for trafficking oxycodone and a lesser charge of possessing a controlled substance. He was taken to Broward County jail where the charges were given. Kodak Black Arrest Details
The incident of Kodak Black getting arrested was first reported by TMZ. They reported that the rapper, whose real name is Dieuson Octave, was stopped by the Florida Highway Patrol on Friday afternoon because the SUV he was traveling in had expired tags and over-tinted windows.
When they pulled the car over, they smelled marijuana and searched the vehicle. This was when they found the rapper possessing nearly $75,000 in cash and 31 oxycodone pills. His lawyer Bradford Cohen later told Rolling Stone that they have negotiated for a $75000 bond during his bail hearing on Saturday morning.
Other Legal Issues
Kodak Black is no stranger to landing in legal trouble. In November 2019, he was charged with a 46-month prison sentence for falsifying information on federal forms in an attempt to buy firearms. Former American president Donald Trump flew to his rescue and had the sentence commuted in January 2021 on his last full day in office.
Kodak Black had also previously served seven months in a Florida prison for marijuana charges, child neglect, grand theft of a firearm, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He had also been charged with violating probations, armed robbery, weapons possession, and sexual assault. He also pleaded guilty in a sexual misconduct case in April 2021.
