Penn will be sharing his love story in detail in his new book, You Can’t Be Serious
Kal Penn is best known for the Harold and Kumar movies alongside John Cho, House MD and Designated Survivor. He had also worked in the White House under the Obama administration for two years.
And now, the actor is all set to release his own book titled, You Can’t Be Serious. With that, the actor has decided to publicly reveal that he is gay. Penn, 44, is currently engaged to Josh, his partner of 11 years.
About the book
The book tells the story of how he and Josh met and fell in love when he was living at Washington D.C. Speaking about it, Penn said that he had been public with everybody and doesn’t shy away from discussing personal matters. However, Josh, his parents, and his brother do not love attention and love to stay away from any media. Therefore, we never got to hear about the actor’s personal life much. In a short clip asking audiences to pre-order his book, Penn says that he will mention his life with his grandparents, coming to Hollywood at the age of 18, working in the life-changing Harold and Kumar movies, dealing with racism, and his family life.
Most importantly, Penn said that he will be truthful and transparent in his book, and at the same time not compromise the privacy of the four people he loves the most. Penn hopes the reader will feel like they’re drinking a beer with the actor as he tells his life experience.
About his sexuality
Regarding his sexual orientation, Penn revealed that he discovered his much later compared to most people. He added that there is no timeline in this matter, and that people discover it at different times. But he’s glad that he got to discover his.
