The Bucksport Arts Festival is crowded with local artisans flaunting their work.
The 5th Annual Bucksport festival has kick-started on 9th August at the Waterfront walk away overlooking the beautiful coasts of Penobscot Bay. The festival is a fine art and craft festival which encourages local artists to join and show-off their work.
Every year it witnesses a flock of all the talented artists from throughout Maine and England, and people emerge in large numbers to see, appreciate and purchase the various forms of arts, showcased at the event and relish the colorful festive vibes of it. The entry for the festival remains free and along with the exhibition of art, it features live music and entertainment, parade, food stalls, games center for the kids, and much more. One of the chief attractions of the annual festival is the fireworks display over the Penobscot River and Penobscot Narrows Bridge.
The artists were joyous to showcase their talent, one of them is Charles. W. Hunt, who is a photographer and has set up Charles. W. Hunt Photography. Charles, who is suffering autism, has blown away everyone at the festival with his photography skills, tells that photography gives a meaning to his life and helps him overcome his daily struggles of autism.
Another stall is from Kerwin Whitney, a resident of Maine, who specializes in flora and fauna and scenic views along the coast of Maine. Sharon’s decorative Art is the perfect stop for all the household decor and antique items; a wide variety of innovative products are up for the display. For all the jewelry lovers, there is Black Cat Beads, it is a collection of chain maille jewelry designed with the designer’s sterling silver findings. She’s ecstatic to show-off her variety which includes handcrafted polymer clay beads, gemstones, crystals embellish and many more.
Tonya Patten’s Moon Cache is another attraction that displays the jewelry crafted with handmade gemstones and crystals infused with energy. The painter, Mattie Rose, who is a pro with pen & ink along with oil colors, has set up Mattie Rose Art, which boasts for her talent through her exquisite paintings. Her lively paintings are mostly centered around animals, landscapes and geometric shapes. Joining her is the Penobscot Pyrographics from a retired licensed Maine forester, Roger. His stall screams for his seamless skills of drawing with fire on paper and wood, making it the absolute place on visitor’s list to visit
The stalls I mentioned are just the tip of the iceberg. There is so much more for people to explore which this making the Bucksport Annual festival, which is the biggest fundraiser for the important local work of the region, a must in everyone’s list.
