Emmy Winners 2022: ‘Squid Game’, ‘Succession’, ‘Ted Lasso’ Sweeps Ceremony

Emmy saw the biggest names sweeping the most prestigious awards

The Emmy Awards for 2022 have been eventful, and was a place of much celebration and laughs, thanks to SNL star Kenan Thompson. We had the Creative Arts Awards last week, and this time, we get to see the series that bagged the prestigious award. So let’s see who are the big winners.

Many fan favorites are on this list, including Abbott Elementary, Squid Game, and Ted Lasso. Actors who won the Emmys include Lee Jung-Jae, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Zendaya, and Quinta Brunson. The biggest streamer/network with the most wins ended up being HBO/HBO Max once again, by getting a grand total of 38 wins, having beaten last year’s 19. The White Lotus and Euphoria are the titles with the most wins, having won 10 and 6 respectively. Netflix’s Squid Game comes close with 6 wins, and the Walt Disney Company won a total of 26 Emmys combined last week and this week.

Now that the general census has been given, let’s move to the real winners. HBO’s Succession wins the Emmy for Best Drama; Ted Lasso wins for Best Comedy; The White Lotus wins Best Limited Series, Last Week Tonight With John Oliver wins Best Variety Talk Series; Saturday Night Live wins Best Variety Sketch Series, and Lizzo’s Watch Out for the Big Grrrls wins Best Competition Program.

Moving on to performances, Lee Jung-Jae (Squid Game) won Lead Actor, Drama; Jason Sudeikis (Ted Lasso) won Lead Actor, Comedy; Michael Keaton (Dopesick) won Lead Actor, Limited Series or Movie; Zendaya (Euphoria) won Lead Actress, Drama; Jean Smart (Hacks) won Lead Actress, Comedy, and Amanda Seyfried (The Dropout) won Lead Actress, Limited Series or Movie.
